The Social follow module helps to increase the number of your brand’s followers on social networks in a way that members receive an incentive to follow the brand on Twitter or connect their Facebook profiles with the loyalty program.

Find the Social follow module’s configuration page by typing ‘Social follow’ into the search bar of the opening the Modules (blue star) menu and searching for the ‘Social follow’ module in the list. The page will open to setting up the Facebook connect the configuration interface to configure incentives for Facebook connection and Twitter follow optionsactions.

Facebook connect

You can collect profiling data by asking customers to connect their Facebook accounts. The data provided by Facebook will be stored in loyalty customer fields and used for various purposes.

Note

As Facebook is restricting third parties' access to customer data, Antavo can only get age-range information from customer’s Facebook accounts.

To enable this point-earning option, you need to make sure you have connected your Facebook app to your Antavo brand under the Social account module. The app will request access from customers on behalf of Antavo to their profile data.

As soon as the connection is created, you can configure the mechanics.

  • Set the number of points the customer that customers will receive when they connect their Facebook accounts Basic account information will be synced with the customer’s profile when they connect their accounts.

    • You can display the points that the customer has earned through social follow activities in the form of a loyalty card on their membership site by typing in a valid, positive number (if you type in 0 as a value, the card will not be generated).

  • Click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page

You can display the Facebook connect point-earning option on the membership site by requesting information through the activities/earn endpoint of the Display API. This will provide the URL that will redirect customers to the page where they can grant the access to customer’s Facebook profile data and through which the Facebook connect action gets completed.

Note

Please note that the endpoint will only serve you with information if a non-zero positive point value has been set.

Enabling Twitter follow

To have customers follow your Twitter account directly from the membership site, you need to connect your Twitter app to your Antavo brand under the Social account module. The app will request authorization from customers on behalf of Antavo to add your account to the list of accounts they follow.

As soon as the connection is created, you can configure the mechanics.

  • Set the number of points customers will receive when they follow you on Twitter.

    • You can display the points that the customer has earned through social follow activities in the form of a loyalty card on their membership site by typing in a valid, positive number (if you type in 0 as a value, the card will not be generated).

  • Set the Twitter screen name you want the customers to follow.

Save the settings.

Following these steps will log in the loyalty member with their Twitter account:

  • They need to go to https://microsite.{env}.antavo.com/{brand_id}/follow/twitter without authencation.

  • They need to give the Twitter permissions.

  • The page/user should be followed by the connected Twitter user.

Disabling social networks

  • Go

  • Enter the name of the Twitter account that you want the customers to follow

  • Click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page

Editing social follow settings

  • Navigate to the Social follow module configuration page

  • Modify the number of points given for the channel or the Twitter account

  • Click ‘Save’

Note

Please note that if you change the Twitter account, customers who have already been following the previous Twitter account, will not be able to earn points again for following the new account.

Disabling social networks

  • Navigate to the Social follow module configuration page.

  • Set the number of points given for the channel you want to disable to 0.

  • Save the settings.
