Klaviyo is a cloud-based email marketing and automation platform designed for eCommerce businesses. It has a built-in CDP that allows businesses to integrate more marketing data for higher ROI: it collects and stores data on customer behavior, such as website activity, purchase history, email engagement, and social media interactions.

Klaviyo’s Antavo integration makes it possible to further enhance the customer experience and drive customer loyalty. By combining the data from both platforms, businesses can gain a deeper understanding of their customers' behavior and preferences, and create targeted and personalized marketing campaigns.

Antavo supports customer and event data synchronization between the two systems - this is a one-way data synchronization only, from Antavo to Klaviyo.

This document details the process of configuring the connection between the two platforms and briefly covers a use case that can be performed through the Workflow editor.

Find the configuration page of the Klaviyo integration module by typing ‘klaviyo' into the search bar of the Modules (blue star) menu. The page will open to the 'Connect Klaviyo’ subpage, asking for an API key.

Configuring the Antavo – Klaviyo connection

The module configuration requires an API key. This information can be found in Klaviyo’s admin platform. To obtain it, follow these steps:

  • Login to your Klaviyo account.

  • Click the dropdown menu in the bottom left corner that indicates your organization’s name.

  • Select Account, click Settings and navigate to API Keys.

  • Click Create API Key.
You can label each private API key for clarity. Click on the pencil icon and type in a new label in the window that appears.

  • Select Save API Key.

  • Copy the provided string to your clipboard and paste it into the designated field in Antavo's Backoffice.

  • Click Connect.

  • Finally, choose the list that you wish Antavo to synchronize.

Field synchronization

After the connection is established, you'll need to set up the synchronization of fields between the two systems.
Click on 'Add new field (blue star)'

  • The items in the left column’s dropdown called Loyalty fields display the fields that are found within Antavo.

  • Remote fields represent the equivalent fields in Klaviyo.

  • Add more field mappings by adding new rows at the bottom.

  • Click ‘Save’.

Point add synchronization and communication through the workflow editor

You can synchronize Antavo events with Klaviyo through the Workflows editor. This example demonstrates how to create an automated email campaign triggered by adding points to a customer.

You can access workflow management through the Workflows icon (blue star) on the left sidebar, or type it in the search field of Modules (blue star) .

  • Click ‘Create new campaign’ or ‘Create new general workflow’ depending on the type of flow you would like to run. Read more about the concepts of campaigns and workflows here.

  • Fill in the required fields to create the campaign or workflow. See the instructions here and here.

  • Drag and drop the Event trigger node to the empty canvas from the right sidebar.

    • Define the type of event on which the workflow should run – this needs to be set to run on a Point Add event so that this workflow will be activated each time such an event occurs.

    • Click 'Update'.

  • When the Klaviyo module is enabled in Antavo’s Backoffice, the Trigger marketing communication node will appear in the editor. Drag and drop this as an action node to the canvas.

    • Type point_add as the event name (mandatory).

    • Select the event type as it appears in Klaviyo (mandatory).

    • Enter the key and value of the event data to be sent in the payload (the information about the event that needs to be sent to Klaviyo).
Add multiple data fields to the payload using the ‘Add’ button.

    • Click ‘Update’.
