The following three examples show the outcomes of all the configurable campaign ‘Limit exceed’ options. The bonus point awarding use case of the below scenarios is that the campaign’s limit is 1000 points and the individual customer’s is 25 points.
Only the overall campaign bonus limit field is populated
Scenario: A campaign has already awarded 950 points and an activated workflow rule would award 100 points.
You have determined the top limit of how many points can be awarded overall during the campaign. You left Max customer points empty, therefore no limit applies to the individual customers.
If the first option -soft limit- is marked: all 100 points can be given, raising the balance to 1050 points.
If the second option -dynamic limit- is marked: only 50 points can be given because the balance has to be cut at 1000.
If the third option -hard limit- is marked: the overall campaign’s point balance remains at 950 points.
Only the individual customer's bonus limit field is populated
Scenario: One of your customers has collected 20 points so far in this campaign, and an activated workflow rule would award her with 6 more points.
You have left the top limit Max bonus points empty, therefore no limit applies during the whole campaign. You have determined, however, the top limit of how many points can be awarded for one single customer (25).
If the first option -soft limit- is marked: she gets all 6 points, so her points grow to 26.
If the second option -dynamic limit- is marked: she only gets 5 points, so her points grow to 25.
If the third option -hard limit- is marked: her points remain at 20.
When both fields are populated
Scenario: A campaign has already awarded 950 points and an activated workflow rule would award 100 points. Moreover, one of your customers has collected 20 points so far in this campaign, and an activated workflow rule would award her with 6 more points.
You have determined the top limit of how many points can be awarded overall during the campaign (1000). In addition, you have also determined the max customer points, indicating how many points can be awarded for one single customer (25).
If the first option -soft limit- is marked: All 1050 points can be given. Plus, she gets all 6 points, so her point balance grows to 26.
2. If the second option -dynamic limit- is marked: Only 1000 points can be given during the campaign. On the individual level, she only gets 5 points, so her point balance grows to 25. However, if her point raise interferes with the 1000 limit, the rule stops at 1000 no matter how many points could have been given to her.
3. If the third option -hard limit- is marked: The overall campaign points remain at 950, and her point balance remains at 20 points.
